Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study examined information and communication technology and employees performance in the University of Calabar. ICT has been a catalyst in today’s world, there have been various challenges confronting it effective utilization. The objective of the study was to establish the impact of information and communication technology and employee performance in the University of Calabar. The research adopted a stratified and quota research design, the population of the study consist of staff of bursary unit, transcript and exams and record departments which is made of Seven hundred and twenty five (725) with the sample size of two hundred and sixty (260). Data for the study were collected using questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using chi-square statistical technique. The study reveal that electronic result administration has ensured management of errors and fraud and on the part of the students has created stress free access to result of convenience. The research further revealed that the introduction of electronic transaction has helped in reduction of school fees racketeering, fraud and ill vices. Also introduction of electronic transcript processing has helped in the effective delivery of service than when it was done traditionally. Issues such as misplacement of student academic record of poor work life balance bas been curbed. It was recommended that the university management should periodically subject it employees to information communication training to further advance their skills in handling Information Communication Technology (ICT) base responsibilities. Effective knowledge transfer and workers reorientation should adopted and establish by management as to keep employees abreast with challenges and constraint changes in the world of technology. Finally, electronic platforms of operations should establish and monitor strictly ranging from both workers to students affairs of operation.
