Abstract

Over the past few years, Food Safety has become and continues to a major public concern, hence Microbiology quality and assessment is a good step towards ensuring food safety and hygiene. This project seek to isolate, identify and determine the Antimicrobial Susceptibility test for E. coli isolated from Coleslaw. Thirty Samples were collected from two different location in Ekiti which are Ikere and Ado. MacConkey agar and Eosin Methyl Blue Agar (EMB) were used for Isolation. Standard morphological and biochemical test were used for the identification and characterization of the isolates and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test was used to determine the sensitivity pattern of bacterial isolated. The result showed that 25 bacterial isolate suspected to be E. coli were identified. Ciprofloxacin (CPX), Ceftriaxone (TRX), Cefuroxins (CEF) 100% shows most Sensitivity against the isolated bacteria (E. coli) while Augmentin (AU) 43% shows most resistance among these antibiotics.
