Factors Influencing the Attitude of Women of Childbearing Age Towards Family Planning in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State Nigeria.

ABSTRACT
This study investigated the factors influencing attitude of women of childbearing age toward family planning in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area. In order to achieve the research objective, aim of the study were identified which enhance the formulation of the research questions and the hypothesis respectively. There was a review of literature based on the purpose of the study and the hypotheses. A descriptive cross-sectional research design was employed and data was collected through a validated structured close ended questionnaire. The population comprised of many childbearing age women in Ehime Mbano; Yamane`s formula was adopted to determine sampling techniques and 385 sample size was used in the project. A structured questionnaire of 12 items was used in collecting relevant data for the study Hypotheses were tested and result showed that: Socio-economic status influence the attitude of women of childbearing age towards family planning(70.8%).cultural norms affects the attitude of women of childbearing age towards family planning(20.6%) While the disposition of women of child-bearing age affects their attitude towards family planning(28.9%), and the educational status of women, of child bearing age influence the attitude of women toward family planning(61.8%). Notably, majority of respondent correctly identified the factors affecting the attitude of women of childbearing age towards family planning in Ehime Mbano local government area with 65% of respondent endorsing it.Factors such as accessibility, attitude, child bearing age, knowledge and satisfaction with service quality were identified as key determinants influencing Family planning.The findings underscore the importance of addressing these multifaceted factors to improve maternal healthcare access and outcomes in the region. The study contributes valuable insights for policymakers, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders to develop targeted interventions aimed at enhancing family planning utilization and promoting better health outcomes for women in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria.
