This study examines the history and cultural significance of Ikare Akoko in Ondo State from the earliest times to the present. It traces the town’s origin, migration, and settlement patterns, emphasizing the development of its traditional leadership, religion, and cultural practices. The research also explores Ikare Akoko’s role as a major center of commerce, education, and political influence in the Akoko region. Using oral traditions, archival materials, and secondary sources, the study reveals that the people of Ikare Akoko have preserved rich cultural values expressed through festivals, language, and social institutions. It concludes that Ikare Akoko’s historical evolution and cultural heritage remain vital to understanding the broader history and identity of the Akoko people in Ondo State.
