Abstract
This project report aimed to optimize the power distribution networks in Calabar urban areas, focusing on enhancing efficiency and reliability. To achieve this, a thorough examination of the existing network was conducted, utilizing a combination of data collection, modeling, and optimization techniques. The methodology involved gathering detailed information on power consumption, network infrastructure, and geographical factors. Key findings revealed significant improvements in network performance, including reduced power losses and increased operational efficiency, demonstrating the effectiveness of the optimization strategies employed. The optimization process led to notable improvements in several performance metrics. These included a substantial reduction in power losses, cost savings, and enhanced network reliability. The study identified optimal network configurations and operational strategies that contributed to these improvements. By adjusting the layout and operation of the power distribution network, the study achieved a more efficient and reliable system capable of better meeting the demands of Calabar Urban Areas. The optimized network has had a profound impact on overall network efficiency, leading to more stable and reliable power distribution. This has directly benefited various stakeholders, including consumers who experience fewer outages and more consistent service, utilities that can operate more efficiently, and local government bodies that benefit from improved infrastructure. The results underscore the potential for similar optimization efforts to enhance power distribution systems in other urban areas.
