Abstract
Abstract
This study examines the role of radio in enhancing public perception of national issues in Nigeria, focusing on Wazobia FM. Radio remains vital for information dissemination, shaping public opinion and civic engagement. Using a mixed-method approach with 400 respondents, the research assesses how Wazobia FM influences discourse through programming, language, and interactivity. Findings show that radio, especially in Pidgin English, bridges communication gaps between citizens and policymakers, promotes national unity, and raises awareness on political and social matters. The study recommends that media practitioners improve program content and that policymakers collaborate with radio stations for effective public awareness campaigns.
