Hematological Parameters of Normal Feathered Indigenous Chickens

Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the haematological profiles of indigenous chickens in Sokoto State, Nigeria, with a focus on age-and sex-based variations. The experiment, carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture laboratory, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, involved 12 chickens (6 males and 6 females), further categorized into young and old groups. Each group was systematically paired and analyzed across six treatments, with three replicates per treatment, to investigate key haematological parameters, including red blood cell count (RBC), packed cell volume (PCV), haemoglobin concentration (Hb), white blood cell count (WBC), and WBC differentials.
