Abstract

ABSTRACT
This study investigated the influenceof Facebook on body image perception and satisfaction amongJemale university students.A quantitative research design was employed, and a survey questionnairewas administered to a sample of 381 female university students. The results showed that Facebookuse was significantly associated wilh negative body image perception and satisfaction among femaleuniversity students. Specifically, the study found that exposure to idealized and unrealistic beautystandards on Facebook led to increased body dissatisfaction, low self-esteem, and negative self-comparisons among female students.The study also identified factors that moderate the relationshipbetween Facebook use and body image perception, including self-esteem, body mass index,andfrequency of Facebook use. The findings of this study have implications for the development ofinterventions aimed al promoting posilive body image and self-esteem among female universitystudents. Ultimately, this study highlights the need for female university students to be aware of the potential impact of Facebook on their body image perception and satisfaction, and to develop strategies to mitigate its negative effects.
