Abstract
Akparavuni and its environ are located in Biase Local Government Area, Southeastern Nigeria. The study area covers an approximate area of 50km2 (square kilometer) and is situated within the Oban Massif and the Calabar Flank. The rocks that make up the area are basically basement complex rocks, and metasediments rocks. The presence of Structural features such as foliations, fractures, and joints indicate multiple deformational events, with a significant NE-SW trend indicating a Pan African event that occurred about 600 ± 150 million years ago. During the exercise, biotite schist, granodiorite, charnockite, phyllite, quartzite, and pegmatites vein were identified. Presence of minerals such as tourmaline, quartz, muscovite, biotite, hornblende, orthoclase, magnetite and plagioclase were identified which has a high economic value. The study shows that the study areas have undergone series of igneous, and metamorphic processes.
