Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study presents the development of a Parent-Teacher Communication System (PTCS) for Elizade University, Nigeria, designed to bridge communication gaps between educators and parents through a secure, role-based platform. Built on the Django framework, the system prioritizes threaded messaging and seamless integration with the university's existing EU Parents Result for performance monitoring, eliminating redundant data storage while ensuring real-time access to academic records.
Applying Design Science Research (DSR), the project focused on iterative development from existing platforms and literature. The system supports fundamental features such as threaded messaging and user authentication, built upon an agile framework using HTML, CSS (Bootstrap), and JavaScript for responsiveness.
Testing covered unit, integration, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), checking the usability, performance, and security of the system for simultaneous users. While it lacks a mobile app and real-time chat, it provides a good foundation for future enhancement, including those features and additional language support.
