Abstract
This project focuses on reducing the high energy consumption and operational inefficiency of the Department of Microbiology, Kaduna State University, which relies heavily on non-renewable electricity.Through a comprehensive energy audit, the study evaluates existing energy use patterns, identifies inefficiencies, and proposes solar energy integration as a sustainable alternative.Findings show that transitioning to solar systems would reduce carbon emissions, improve reliability amid frequent power outages, and lower operational costs.Beyond its technical contribution, the project enhances student engagement in renewable energy research and positions the department as a model for sustainable energy adoption in academic institutions.
