Abstract
ABSTRACTThis study explores the transformative impact of agricultural development projects on the agricultural sector in Sokoto State, with a focus on their contributions to improving productivity, modernizing farming practices, and enhancing the socioeconomic well-being of farmers. The research employs a mixed-method approach, combining field surveys, interviews, and secondary data analysis. The field surveys targeted farmers, extension workers, and key stakeholders in agricultural development programs, while interviews were conducted with government officials and representatives of non-governmental organizations involved in the projects. The study critically examines programs such as the provision of subsidized agricultural inputs, improved irrigation systems, and farmer education initiatives. Findings indicate that these agricultural development projects have led to significant improvements in crop yields, livestock production, and the adoption of modern farming techniques. The study concludes that while agricultural development projects have been instrumental in transforming the agricultural sector in Sokoto State, greater emphasis must be placed on addressing these challenges through targeted policies, enhanced funding, and the involvement of all stakeholders. Recommendations include increased investment in agricultural research, capacity building for farmers, and the establishment of effective monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure the sustainability of development initiatives.
