Comparative Antibacterial Activity and Antioxidant Property of Aqueous and Ethanolic Extract of Jatropha Curcas, Aframamomum Danielli and Ganoderma Lucidium

Aframomum danielli, Ganoderma lucidum, and Jatropha curcas are the three plants from which this study examines the antibacterial activity and antioxidant qualities of aqueous and ethanolic extracts. The antibacterial activities were tested on six microorganisms at concentrations ranging from 25 mg/ml to 100 mg/ml: Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The antioxidant activities were assessed using their IC50 values against standard benchmarks. With an IC50 of 49.87 ug/ml, Ganoderma lucidum exhibited the highest antioxidant activity, followed by Aframomum danielli (175.00 g/ml) and Jatropha curcas (80.00 g/ml). For contrast, the conventional IC50 value was 20.5 g/ml. With a conventional IC50 of 39.0 g/ml, Ganoderma lucidum showed exceptional activity for ABTS radical scavenging (34.5 g/ml), followed by Jatropha curcas (38.5 mgml) and Aframomum danielli (40.5 mg/ml). The ethanolic extracts continuously performed better than the aqueous extracts The strongest antibacterial action was shown by Jatropha curcas, especially against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus. The high antioxidant activity of Ganoderma lucidum made it stand out. The results emphasize the potential for medicinal uses of these plants as well as the impact of extraction techniques on bioactivity. To identify and describe the bioactive substances causing these effects, more research is advised.
