Abstract

This research provides a comprehensive examination of the Effect of Leadership Style on Conflict Resolution in an Organization, using First Bank Plc, Yakubu Gowon Way, Kaduna, as a case study covering the period 2018–2022. Based on the reviewed literature, leadership style is seen as a critical factor in achieving organizational goals, as the leader provides direction, guides group activities, and ensures that collective objectives are realized. The study adopted a survey research design and utilized both primary and secondary data. The primary data were obtained through a structured questionnaire, while secondary data were gathered from published and unpublished materials. Data were presented in tables and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively using Likert’s rating scale, simple percentages, and arithmetic mean. The analysis revealed that conflict resolution involves the methods and processes that promote the peaceful settlement of disputes and the prevention of further hostilities. The study concluded that the organization had experienced several crisis situations arising from both internal and external factors, with internal issues being the predominant causes. It was therefore recommended that the organization should identify and address the sources of conflict within its structure and strengthen the application of effective leadership styles to improve conflict management and enhance overall organizational performance.
