Impact of Information Communication Technology (ict) on Construction Organizations Performance in Kebbi State

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The Nigeria construction industry has been lacking in the use of information communication technology (ICT) on construction organizations when compared with other sectors. Despite the benefits associated with the use of information communication technology (ICT) it usage on construction industry is discouraging due to lack of clear understanding of its impact of performance. This study aimed at investigating the impact of information communication technology (Ict) on construction organizations performance in Kebbi state. In achieving the aim of this study objectives set included assessing the factors hindering ICTs adoption of construction organizations, examining the drivers of ICTs adoption of the construction organizations. The study adopted quantitative research design approach via self-administered questionnaire. The structured questionnaire was administered to 83 respondents and 70 filled and returned representing 81% response rate. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive analysis. This study found that the major factors hindering ICTs adoption in construction organization includes high initial cost of acquisition, cost of engaging computer literate staff, poor and erratic power supply, organizational culture and fear of insecurity and fear of insecurity. This study found that efficiency of the organization; employee skills, change management and Cost saving targets of the organization were the most drivers of ICTs adoption of the construction organizations. This study also found that enabling focus on strategic work, cost savings, improve delivery time, profit margin and competitive advantage are the effects of ICTs adoption of construction firms. The study recommends that for enhancement efficient information circulation and reduce conflicts among information communication technology users, efficiency of the organization, employee skills, The construction industries and professional teams should be optimistic about the future use of ICT in the construction industry, for effective ICTs adoption on organization performance and Identifying more factors impacting the influence of ICTs performance of construction organizations from a broad view considering the dynamic features of project performance.
