Abstract
In this study, a basis function is designed and used as an interpolant for the derivation of standard and non-standard schemes. These schemes can be used for the solution of initial value problems. The schemes were tested on initial value problem and found to be very close to the exact solution, with the non-standard scheme performing better than the standard scheme when their results were compared with the exact solutions.
