Abstract
The use of chemical control methods to preserve wheat grains has posed serious environmental problem to human health, hence the need to evaluate the heavy metal concentrations and pesticide residues in wheat grains sourced from selected markets in Awka, Anambra State. All wheat samples were subjected to analysis using advanced analytical techniques such as atomic absorption spectrophotometer for heavy metal and gas chromatography for pesticide residues. The data on heavy metal and pesticide residue levels generated from the study were presented as mean and standard deviation (SD) while the variations in the mean were subjected to One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to test the significant difference in the metal concentrations in wheat grains obtained from selected markets at P
