Women Multiple Roles and It's Implication for Child Upbringing, a Study of Abakiliki,ebonyi State, Nigeria

This study examined women multiple roles and its implication on child upbringing using Abakaliki as a case study. The research adopted the Conflict and Role Conflict Theory as the theoretical base for analyzing the behavior of women with multiple roles. The research adopted the quantitative method using survey research design. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire. Simple tables, percentages and Chi square technique were used for analyzing the data. Findings of the study provide ample evidence that woman multiple roles have produced negative effect on child upbringing such as in their academic, feeding of the children, leads to social vices, hygiene behavior and may lead to criminal behaviour . The study also found that women multiple roles adversely affects child development. The study therefore recommends amongst others that there is need to provide assistance to employed mothers in terms of facilities, education, and advisory and support services in trying to cope with the conflict of multiple roles.
