Assessing the Effect of Utilization of Quantity Surveying Based Software on the Quantity Surveying Profession in Nigeria

Abstract
The construction industry is a complex and dynamic sector that require professional experts to manage cost effectively. Quantity Surveyors paly a crucial role in ensuring financial efficiency, resources allocation, and project success. Traditionally, cost estimation and financial management were conducted manually, leading to inefficiencies and errors. However, advanced in technology have introduced Quantity Surveying-Based software, significantly improving accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration in project management. Despite the benefits, challenges such as outdated costing methods, data accuracy issues, and limited adoption of technology persist within the industry. This study assesses the impact of Quantity Surveying Based software on the profession in Nigeria, focusing on it adoption, contribution and the factors influencing its usage. \By evaluating the role of software in optimizing cost estimation, project efficiency, and decision making, the study aims to provides into improving Quantity Surveying practices. A total of one hundred (100) questionnaires were distributed online to various professionals practicing in Osun state. The questionnaires were analyzed using relative importance method. The professionals for this research work were mainly Quantity Surveyors. From this study, it was revealed that the factors that highly influence the adoption of Quantity Surveying-based software are cost of software, lack of training/skills and compatibility issues. This study concluded by recommending the factors that would enhance the adoption of Quantity Surveying-based software in construction industry are Government support, More training programs and Reduced software costs.
