Impact of Phonological Problems on the Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Ideato North Lga of Imo State

Abstract
study was designed to find out the“Impact of phonological problems on theacademic performance of secondary school students in Ideato North L.G.A of ImoState. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design approach in whichthree questions were posed. The population of this study consisted of 1,365 from ten(10) secondary schools out of which four (4) schools were randomly selected forthis study from this four schools stratified random sampling technique was also usedto select 160 students. The data was analyzed using mean score and standarddeviation. A rating scale of four points was used as an instrument for data collection.Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendation were made:Teachers should endeavor to check students on phonetics, teachers should endeavorto check student's pronunciation and give essay to students to read in class, parentsshould encourage their children to listen to news and government should provideadequate facility for teaching phonetics for both students and teachers.
