Abstract
The project examined the establishment of the Cross River Basin Development Authority. Established over three decades ago, it is one of the oldest River Basins in the Southern part of the country. Initially, the Authority was mandated to concentrate on Agricultural and Rural Development but it was re-organized in the late 1980's, the outfit was streamlined to focus on the development of surface and underground water resources. The Cross River Basin Development Authority was poised to make her impact felt within the Cross River and Akwa Ibom catchment. This project provides a window into the activities of the Cross River Basin Development Authority, the functions, expectations, impacts, and challenges of Cross River Basin Development Authority. Evidence are from primary sources which included oral interviews and secondary sources which such as books and journal articles.
