Abstract
This study investigates the impact of instructional materials on the academic performance of
Economics students at Maimusari Secondary School, Jere Local Government Area, Borno State,
Nigeria. It highlights the critical role of these materials in enhancing comprehension,
engagement, and performance, especially in a region affected by socio-economic and security
challenges. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 150 students through
structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings reveal that
instructional materials significantly improve understanding, grades, and classroom
participation, with 86.7% of students expressing positive attitudes and 73.3% reporting improved
performance. Gender-related perceptions were minimal, indicating equitable support for both
male and female students. However, challenges such as scarcity and outdated resources were
noted, underscoring the need for increased investment and innovative solutions. This study
provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers to enhance the quality and
accessibility of instructional materials, ultimately improving educational outcomes in conflict-
affected regio
