The Role of Aesthetics and Branding in Cloakroom Design (a Study of Hospitality Management Department, Federal Polytechnic, Ede.)

Abstract
The study investigated the roles of aesthetics in branding hotels cloakroom and the effects of layout design on aesthetics and branding of hotel cloakroom with specific reference to the Hospitality Management Department, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, Nigeria. The analytical-descriptive survey research design was employed to collect the requisite data. A total of two-hundred and forty (240) appropriate filed questionnaire were purposively used for this study. However, study findings revealed that 53.8% respondents strongly agreed that hotel cloakroom design is not merely about aesthetics, but also create a fulfil employee needs with thoughtfulness. It was also found that design of a hotel cloakroom plays a crucial role in the overall employees’ experience, which serves as a place where they can securely store their belongings while they are carryout their daily jobs. It was concluded that hotelier should start looking at ways to provide their employees and customers with more facilities to choose them over their competitors. It was recommended amongst others that hoteliers should imbibe a simplistic design with good looking aesthetics that may enhance employees and guest’s comfort which may have an impact on the overall profitability of the hotel operation. It was also recommend that when design a cloakroom, hoteliers should incorporate a consistent aesthetic that enhances brand recognition and values, which allow guests to recognize and connect with the hotel on a deeper level.
