Abstract
ICT and Literacy Centres have transformed from traditional spaces offering computer access andreading materials to versatile hubs that foster digital learning, collaboration, and communityengagement. This shift demands innovative designs that efficiently utilize space while providingan enhanced user experience. This study focuses on designing an ICT and Literacy Centre forBamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI) to addresschallenges such as inadequate capacity, inefficient spatial organization, and evolving academicneeds. The project aims to create a Centre that supports diverse learning activities, encouragescollaboration, and integrates advanced technology through optimized space planning. The objectives include analyzing successful design strategies in existing ICT and LiteracyCentres, exploring principles like zoning, circulation efficiency, and adaptable layouts, andapplying these findings to propose a user-friendly and functional design. Insights were drawnfrom case studies of both local and international facilities, complemented by data gatheredthrough deductive research methods. The resulting design proposal provides an ICT and LiteracyCentre that supports academic growth, improves digital literacy, and addresses the increasingtechnological demands of BOUESTI’s population. The project highlights the role of effectivespace utilization and innovative design in creating a forward-looking educational facility.
