Abstract
This study examines the roles and relevance of traditional institutions in managing conflict in Ilogbo-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected from fifty respondents including traditional rulers, chiefs, and community members through interviews. Findings reveal that traditional institutions play significant roles in maintaining peace, resolving disputes, preserving culture, and fostering communal solidarity. However, challenges such as lack of autonomy, limited legal backing, political interference, and insufficient government support hinder their effectiveness. The study recommends granting traditional rulers more autonomy, legal recognition, and institutional support to enhance their peacebuilding functions.
