Nature of Industrial Conflict and Methods of Resolving It in an Organization (a Case Study of Nigeria Bottling Company Benin City)

Abstract
ABSTRACTThis research work focuses on the nature of industrial conflict as well as methodsof resolving it using Nigeria bottling company as a case study.Conflict isinevitable as it is necessary in any organization as it important to the growth andprogress of the organization depending on the way and manner it is resolved.Thisis because conflict management helps the organization to checkmate dissidentbehaviour capable of running the organization down.A sample size of 80respondents were drawn among the different categories of staff using a stratifieasampling technique and data were collected through the questionnaire method.Data were analyzed using the simple percentage and chi-square techniques.Finding of the research revealed that communication gap is a major cause ofindustrial conflict.It was concluded that industrial conflict can be assuagedthrough effective communication and dialogue.Finally,it was recommended that the government and management shouldstrengthen statutory procedure for organization conflict management.
