Abstract
This study investigated the impact of teachers’ qualifications on the instructional delivery of agricultural science in senior secondary schools in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The research aimed to determine how teacher quality influences students’ academic performance and how experience contributes to effective teaching outcomes. Four research questions and one hypothesis were developed to guide the analysis. Findings from the study revealed that teacher qualifications significantly affect students’ academic achievement in agricultural science. Moreover, a strong relationship was established between teachers’ years of experience and students’ academic performance, highlighting the importance of experienced and well-qualified teachers in achieving better educational outcomes. The study also noted that while teacher quality plays a vital role in academic success, continuous professional development and quality assurance mechanisms are essential to maintain teaching effectiveness. Based on the findings, the study recommended that quality planning and regular monitoring of teaching practices should be implemented across public secondary schools to ensure consistent instructional standards and improved academic outcomes. Overall, the study emphasizes the critical role of teacher competence and continuous evaluation in enhancing the teaching and learning process in agricultural science education in Ekiti State.
