Abstract

Power outages is a major challenge in the society that cannot be ignored. This ‎project design and construction of an automatic transfer switch (ATS) does not only ‎enables seamless transition between mains power and generator power in single ‎phase systems, but also include the protection of the entire system utilizing a ‎microcontroller-based control system that continuously senses voltage and ‎frequency deviations and automatically switches to the generator within 5 seconds ‎of power failure, ensuring minimal disruption to connected loads. The ATS features ‎advanced protection capabilities, including overload and overheat protection, and ‎offers manual override capability, allowing for flexible control and convenient ‎maintenance. ‎With its reliable, efficient, and safe power transfer, this ATS is ‎suitable for various applications, including residential, commercial, and industrial ‎installations, and provides an ideal solution for uninterrupted power needs, while its ‎cost-effectiveness and easy installation make it an attractive option for users seeking ‎a high-quality and dependable power backup solution.
