Abstract
Corrosion remains a significant challenge in the durability and performance of aluminum-based conductor materials, particularly in harsh environments. This study investigates an aluminum-graphene nanoplatelet (Al-GnP) composite reinforced with titanium (Ti) to enhance its anti-corrosion properties. The composite was fabricated casting techniques, incorporating varying titanium concentrations while maintaining constant aluminum and graphene content. Electrochemical analyses, including Open Circuit Potential (OCP) and Potentiodynamic Polarization (PDP) tests, were conducted to evaluate the corrosion resistance of the material in an acidic medium. The results indicate that increasing titanium content significantly improved corrosion resistance by promoting the formation of a stable passive oxide layer on the composite’s surface. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis further confirmed a more uniform distribution of graphene and reduced surface defects with higher titanium content. The findings suggest that the Al-GnP-Ti composite offers enhanced durability and stability, making it a promising material for industrial applications where corrosion resistance is critical.
