The Impact of School Authority on the Use of Social Media Among Tertiary Students in Nigeria

Abstract
This project work focused on analyzing the impact of school on the use of social media among tertiary students in Nigeria. (A case of study Federal Polytechnic Ede).The study was conducted using chi-square test to determine the association between the effectiveness of school authority regulations and the students’ perspective about the regulations regarding social media behavior.The source of data used in this study was primary source and a statistical instrument (200 questionnaire) were distributed. The data was analysed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) and the tool used to show the analysis was simple percentage (bar chart), Pearson’s chi-square test of independence to know if the variables are related and test of goodness of fit to know if the categorical variables weredifferent. The study revealed that 64.5% students were in support with the school authority regulations regarding social media use. The result show that there were association between the effect of school authorities and the students’ perspective about the school authority regulations regarding social media use, where Pearson Chi-Square of 310.913, p-value 0.00
