Abstract
AbstractWastewater pollution is a critical environmental issue resulting from the discharge of industrial, agricultural, and domestic effluents into water bodies. Bioremediation offers advantages such as cost-effectiveness, minimal chemical usage, and environmental sustainability, making it a promising solution for addressing wastewater pollution. Despite the effectiveness of conventional wastewater treatment technologies, several challenges hinder their sustainability and efficiency. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of bioremediation in wastewater treatment as a sustainable alternative to conventional methods. This study was conducted within a university environment and its surrounding areas to assess the microbial and physicochemical characteristics of wastewater from different sources. The wastewater samples were collected from four locations (School Hostel,Abattoir:. Folifem (Outside the School),A Restaurant Inside the School. The results shows the dominance of Aeromona veronii, a well-known opportunistic pathogen in humans. They showed high query cover (100% and 98%) and percentage identity (>97%), making them reliable identification. . The identification of Aeromonas veronii in the BLAST results observed in this study is significant, as both genera have demonstrated potential in wastewater bioremediation. Aeromonas veronii has been identified as a heavy metal-resistant bacterium, making it a candidate for bioremediation in contaminated environments. In conclusion, This research showed that Aeromonas veronii species in the BLAST results observed in this study is significant, as both genera have demonstrated potential in wastewater bioremediation.
