Abstract
This project explores the often-overlooked issue of emotional abuse against men, challenging traditional gender narratives that typically frame men solely as perpetrators rather than victims. Through the creative medium of a stage play titled Dark truth the project delves into the lived experience of a man subjected to emotional manipulation and control within a marriage, revealing the silent suffering many men endure due to societal stigma, shame, and disbelief. The play employs flashbacks, dramatic dialogue, and courtroom testimony to uncover the psychological toll of abuse and the systemic failure to acknowledge male vulnerability. By combining research, character development, and theatrical storytelling, this project aims to provoke critical reflection and conversation about gendered expectations, emotional violence, and the need for inclusive approaches to mental health and domestic abuse. The findings underscore the importance of recognizing emotional abuse as a universal issue and call for greater awareness, support systems, and representation for male victims within both academic and social context.
