Abstract
Abstract The study investigated the effect of Target-Task Approach on the performance of students in senior secondary school II on physical aspect of chemistry. The study adopted the quasi-experimental research design with four research questions and four hypotheses, sample of 60 students, random sampling technique was use to select the six secondary schools in Pankshin LGA, data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation, and the student t-test was used to test the hypothesis at level of significant of 0.05 (P< 0.05). The instrument used for the data collection was Chemistry Achievement Test. The results revealed that there is a significant difference in the performance of experimental and control group. The findings further showed that gender and Boarding schools or Day schools does not influence students’ achievement when taught physical chemistry with the used of Target-Task Approach method. The study concludes that, student perform better with the use of Target Task Approach Method. With the new strategy for teaching physical chemistry, the pre-service teacher’s curriculum in the college of education should emphasize the use of target task approach in teaching the subject at all levels of education.
