Abstract
This study underpinned on the tenets of Agenda Setting Theory and Social Judgment Theory investigated the attitudes towards media campaigns on flood prevention among select residents of Benin City. The study became necessary following the fact that media campaigns on flood prevention are not really assimilated, let alone acted upon. Thus, it became pertinent to empirically ascertain the attitudes and dispositions towards media campaigns on flood prevention. Using the survey design, questionnaire was employed to elicit data from 368 residents of Benin City via three stages, the purposive, stratified and simple random sampling procedures. It was discovered that the level of exposure of residents of Benin City to media campaigns on flood prevention is critically low, and they view these campaigns in a positive light. Thus this study concludes that media campaigns on flood prevention are seldom broadcasted, hence it was recommended that the media actively shed light on environmental issues, and the government should be more vocal at the grassroots in the fight against climate change
