Teachers Job Satisfaction and Effectiveness in Teaching of Economics in Calabar South Local Government Area Ofcross River State, Nigeria

Abstract
The study investigates teachers’ job satisfaction and effectiveness in teaching of economics in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. To achieve the purpose of the study, the three hypotheses was formulated to guide the study. Literature was reviewed according to the variables teachers organizing function, teachers teaching function and teachers evaluation function and effectiveness. Survey research design was adopted for the study. Teacher Job Satisfaction and Effectiveness Questionnaire (TJSEQ) instrument used for the data collection. Total sample of two hundred (200) were used. A twenty five (25) respondents were randomly selected for the study. The selection was done through the simple random sampling. To test the hypothesis and to ascertain whether to reject or retain them, Pearson product moment correlation analysis was used at appropriately 0.05 level of significance. The result indicates that teachers organizing function, teachers teaching function and teachers evaluation function and effectiveness enhance job satisfaction and effectiveness of teachers academic activities. Based on the finding of the study the researcher recommended that government should provide adequate motivation packages for teachers in schools in order to participate effective teaching and learning and to improve students academic performance in school.
