Abstract
ABSTRACT This study examines evaluation system and employee performance using First bank and Guarantee Trust bank plc in Auchi metropolis as a case study. It has been observed that most banks don’t understand the roles of performance assessment on their employees. Related literature were reviewed; a population of three hundred (300) members of staff of both banks were considered for this study from which a sample of one hundred (100) employees were randomly selected. Questionnaire was administered on the sample, retrieved and analyzed and findings revealed among others that there is a significant relationship between evaluation system and employee productivity, on the basis of this, the following were recommended: that evaluation system adopted should be the one that will motivate workers to contribute their best in performing a particular task through meeting their needs, merit rating or confidential report as a method of appraising employees performance in view of having effective appraisal should be replaced with management by objective (MBO) since it allows employees greater discussion of their performance.
