The Role of Technology in Contemporary Theatre: Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub and Sound

Abstract
This study investigated the role of technology in contemporary theatre: Victor Uwaifo creative hub and sound, This study conduct a detailed analysis of selected performances or workshops at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub where technology, particularly sound design, is central. The case study approach will include reviewing performance recordings, scrips, technical documentation, and soundscapes created for these performances. This analysis aims to identify specific technological tools and techniques employed and to assess their impact on storyline and audience experience. While this study seeks to provide valuable insights into the role of technology in contemporary Theatre, certain limitations as Scope of Technological Innovations, Geographic Focus, Time Constraints, Theatre Context, Artistic vs. Technical Focus, Sample Size and Diversity Audience Perception may affect this study. The interview was conducted with Erewa Meggison Gbubemi, the Facility Manager at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, who has extensive experience in stage production and the application of technology in theatre. The questions aimed to explore the intersection of theatre and technology, particularly focusing on sound design, innovation, challenges, and audience engagement. Despite the benefits, Gbubemi identified several challenges, including funding, unreliable electricity, and the need for specialised training. Following recommendation was made Implement motion capture technology to analyze and refine actors' movements. This can aid in creating more precise and expressive choreography, especially in productions involving complex physical performances. Adopt digital platforms for ticket sales and promotional activities. This streamlines operations and leverages data analytics to understand audience preferences, tailoring future productions accordingly.
