Design and Implementation of Student's File Tracking System

Student Files Tracking System (SFTS) is a web-based application to monitor the movement of files and receipts and assist in their easy tracking. Its features include generation of receipts and files, updating it’s status, opening of new files, tracking the movement of files, dispatching letters/files, and recording their track. The aim of the study is to develop a Student Files Tracking System that will store and retrieval information. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to: build a database system for storing files for tracking purpose, develop a software for managing security information, develop a system that will manage data on a server as a web service, and design an application software that will serve as a client side office suite for effectively carrying out file management through internet accessible devices. The methodology adopted in this study is the object oriented analysis and design methodology (OOADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. Implementation of a Computerized Student Files Tracking Information System will help school officials to get useful information of students’ with academic records. The system developed will among other things to: maintain a database of all records and enable a quick search on the database to retrieve file information. The expected result is an electronic Student Files Tracking System that will track users' files, and the system will generates an accurate information for decision making purpose.
