Abstract
Solar-powered electric vehicles rely on photovoltaic (PV) panels to convert solar energy into electrical power for charging the vehicle battery. However, the efficiency of PV panels decreases significantly when dust, dirt, and other particles accumulate on the surface. This project presents the design and construction of an automated PV cleaning and charging infrastructure for solar-powered electric vehicles. The system integrates a microcontroller-based cleaning mechanism, consisting of a motor-driven wiper and water-spray unit, to regularly clean the PV panel surface. It also includes an automated charging system that regulates power flow to ensure safe and efficient battery charging. The design improves solar power absorption, reduces manual maintenance, and enhances the long-term performance of solar-powered vehicles. The prototype demonstrates increased energy output from the PV module after automated cleaning, confirming the importance of maintenance in optimizing renewable energy systems.
