Abstract
ABSTRACT This study assessed the impact of promotion on workers performance in Federal Polytechnic Mubi. The study objectives include to examine the staff perception on the effectives of implementation of promotion procedures in Federal Polytechnic Mubi; to assess the positive impact of staff promotion on the organization's performance; and to determine impact of workers 'satisfaction with promotions system on individual staff performance. Others include identify the factors that hinder effective implementation of promotion Practice in Federal polytechnic Mubi. The study was based on survey research design. The study randomly sampled 290 staff and used structured questionnaire for data collection. The total 278 questionnaire were duly filled and retrieved from staff. The data collected were analyses using, simple percentage, frequency count, mean and standard deviation while hypotheses were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The results of analysis show that the staff perception on the effective implementation of staff promotion procedures in Federal Polytechnic Mubi is fair. Also, it is found that there is positive impact of staff promotion on the organization's performance. Likewise, the staff about promotions system influences individual performance. More so, factors hindering the efective implementation of promotion practice in Federal polytechnic Mubi include delay in implementing financial benefit, selfish interest among official as well as corrupt practices. The study concludes that fairness of staff promotion define staff performance as well as Organisational performance. The study recommends for transparency promotion exercises as well as guiding against those official with selfish interest as well as addressing lack of funds for those needed financial benefits.
