Abstract
This study examined the effects of acrylic nail use on the nail beds of female Anatomy students at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. Among 117 respondents aged 18–27, acrylic nails were most preferred, though 82.1% reported nail breakage and a few experienced irritation or inflammation. Statistical analysis showed no severe damage to the nail bed; however, long-term use may cause brittleness, discoloration, and mild allergic reactions. The study also noted potential skin cancer risks from UV/LED curing lights, which can be minimized by using sunscreen and gloves during application.
