Abstract
ABSTRACT The project, titled "GCSM characterization of anthocyanin fractions in paper flower crude extract," aims to explore the chemical composition and properties of anthocyanins extracted from the paper flower (Bougainvillea spp.) using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) techniques. This investigates the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) characterization of anthocyanin fractions extracted from the paper flower (Bougainvillea spp.). Anthocyanins, a class of water-soluble pigments belonging to the flavonoid group, are renowned for their vibrant colors and significant health benefits, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and potential anticancer properties. The paper flower is not only an ornamental plant but also a potential source of bioactive compounds, making it an intriguing subject for phytochemical analysis. This study will employ column chromatography to effectively separate anthocyanin fractions, followed by GC-MS analysis to identify and quantify the specific anthocyanin compounds present.
