Abstract
Yam peels, often regarded as agriculture waste, contain bioactive compounds with potential cayenensis). Standard phytochemical analysis was conducted to determine theconcentrations was 0.323, while that of white yam peel was higher at 0.405. Conversely, the alkaloid content in yellow yam peel was found to be 0.527, whereas white yam peel contained a lower alkaloid content in the peels of white yam (Dioscorea rotundata) and yellow yam (Dioscorea applications in pharmaceuticals and food industries. This study evaluates the saponin and serve as a valuable source of bioactive compounds with potential applications in health and industrial sectors. Further studies are recommended to explore their pharmacological properties of these bioactive compounds. The results revealed that the saponin content in yellow yam peel concentration of 0.404. These findings suggest that yam peels, particularly yellow yam, could and utilization in functional foods and medicine.
