Abstract
Air is the agent of pathogenic microbes that cause significant problems in the hospital environment. This study on the enumeration and characterization of bacteria species fromair samples of the theatre/ward in hospital environment was conducted at the KWASU clinic theatre/ward in Malete. The standard settling plate technique was used to collect the air samples in the morning, afternoon and evening period. The types and number of colonies were determined in the laboratory, and the bacteria were isolated by appropriate bacteriological techniques. The bacteria load was found is 30cfu/m3 3 in the morning, in the afternoon was recorded with the highest r42cfu/m3 while the bacteria load in the evening was recorded 20cfu/m3 . A total number of 3 microorganisms comprising a Gram-positive bacterium species (Staphylococcus sp.) and 2 Gram negative (Klebsiella pneumonia and Proteus mirabillus) bacteria were isolated in this study. The result revealed that the bacteria load in the afternoon is significantly higher (p
