Abstract
This research examines the impact of high doses of skushies on certain lipid profile parameters in Wistar rats and compares the results with findings from other relevant studies. Four groups of Wistar rats were used: a control group (Group 1), a low dose (17.5 mg/kg, Group 2), a medium dose (35 mg/kg, Group 3), and high dose (70 mg/kg, Group 4). The study specifically focused on the control group (Group 1) and the high dose (Group 4). Measurement of total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), triglyceride (TG) and very low density lipoprotein(VLDL) were taken and compared using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results indicated that high dose administration of skushies altered these parameters compared to the control group. Further research is needed to understand the mechanisms behind the significant decrease in TG, and significant increase in HDL and TC observed in the high dose. There was no significant difference in LDL and VLDL.
