Abstract
This study examines the fungal species associated with rotten onion bulbs. A total of 5 rotten onion bulb samples were analyzed, and 4 mold fungal species were isolated and identified; Fusarium tricinctum, Aspergillus niger, Scopulariopsis candidi, and Aspergillus flavus. While various yeast species; Candida tropicalis, Candida guilliermondii, Torulopsis glabrata, and Candida pseudotropicals, were isolated and identified. The findings of this study provide insights into the fungi responsible for onion bulb rot, which can proffer solutions for reducing post-harvest losses.
