Effect of Procurement Management on Organization Performance (a Case Study of Nigeria Bottling Company)

Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study aimed to ascertain the extent at which procurement management on organiz
ation performance, procurement refers to events handled by a company for proper manage
ment of the supply chain.an organizations should readjust their procurement practices with t
he aim of enhancing efficiency and promoting environmental conservation. The objective of
the siudy were to: to determine the impact of supplier selection on organization performanc
e, lo examine the influence of risk assessment on organization performance, to evaluate the
effect of sustainability on organization performance. The target population of this stidy inc
hided human resources officers, directors who manage human resources and some staffmem
bers in the procurement department of the study (Nigeria bottling company). Thus, the enti
re staff strength were thirty-six (36). The source of the data collection for this study was p
rimary and secondary through questionnaire and publications,Statistical Package for Social Sc
iences (SPSS) used as a tool of analysis to assess the extent to which the undependable va
rmables affect the dependable variable. The study concluded that the connection between p
rocurement procedures and the performance of an organization. Proper structures and syste
ms in procurement ensured transparency, accountability, reduced costs and improved quality
and specifications. Continuity of the workforce greatly contributed to organizational performa
nce. More than 50 percent of the members of staff in procurement have worked in the or
ganizationThe study recommended that the organizations website should be revived and upd
ated with current information. Suppliers should be communicated to using the organizations
website and their responses received in the same manner io cnsmre competitiveness, covera
ge of a large number of potential suppliers, transparency in the procurement process and c
onsistency in the way specifications are received, and this study suggest a need for manage
ment to put into place procurement planning systems. This study suggests the need for furt
her study to be conducted capturing many manufacturing firms in the country to have be
tter representatives. Given the changes in the world technology, a time series/longitu
dinal studies are suggested to be considered.
