Abstract

This study investigates the relative issues encountered by student researchers in University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). It employed a phenomenological design which aims to explore and describe the lived experiences of student researchers, while shedding light on the challenges they face during their research endeavors. Data were collected through the use of the questionnaire survey across various disciplines in the school. Analysis revealed that student researchers encounter a range of relative issues, including inadequate research infrastructure, poor training, limited access to resources, supervisory challenges, and personal constraints. The study’s findings highlight the need for the university to address these challenges and provide adequate support systems to enhance the research experience of students. The implications of this study would be relevant to educators, policymakers, and researchers seeking to promote a conducive research environment in Nigerian universities.
