Abstract
The emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria poses a formidable challenge. However, Zingiber officinale has emerges as a potential ally in this battle, therefore this study was carried out to investigate and evaluate the antibacterial properties of Zingiber officinale(ginger) extract against selected bacteria. Fresh Rhizomes of Zingiber officinale (Ginger) were collected from Wurukum Market, Makurdi, Benue State. The plants were taken to Charis Rhema Research and Diagnostic Laboratories, Makurdi Benue State for anti-bacterial and qualitative phytochemical Analysis.
The result revealed that the extract was observed to show no effect on Escherichia coli and
Salmonella typhi in the Study (0.00 = 0.00). It's effect of Pseudomonas aeruginosa however
showed a significantly higher activity at 100 mg/mL than at 50 mg/mL (P
