Abstract
This study investigates the impact of recreational activities on the emotional health and
social interaction of undergraduates. Using a survey design, data were collected from
100 undergraduates through a structured questionnaire divided into biographical
information and key thematic areas: participation in recreational activities, emotional
health, social interaction, and challenges limiting engagement. Statistical tools,
including Pearson Correlation and One-Way ANOVA, were employed for hypothesis
testing. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between recreational activities and emotional health (r=0.72, p=0.02), indicating that participation in such activities helps manage stress, reduces anxiety, and fosters emotional balance. Additionally, a significant difference in social interaction was observed between students with high and low levels of participation (p = 0.01F = 4.25 ), highlighting improved communication skills, stronger friendships, and a sense of belonging among active participants. However, challenges such as limited facilities, financial constraints, academic workload, and lack of interest hinder participation. The study underscores the need for institutions to prioritize recreational programs, improve facilities, and promote awareness to enhance student well-being and social cohesion. Recommendations for policy and practice are provided based on these findings.
